Brands cannot control AI. However, they can influence some of the key sources AI relies on.
Who I Work With
I provide insights for 4 audiences:
Brands: a fixed-price diagnostic of how AI describes and recommends your brand against your competitors.
PR and marketing agencies: pitch support, and defense when you are the incumbent.
In-house teams, agencies, and boards: talks and workshops.
Expert networks and investors: how a brand or a category stands in AI, for diligence.
It is tempting to measure brands in AI as you might website traffic, as a count. While that approach does produce a number, it doesn't capture the full picture of the brand in AI.
My system starts from the Interactive Advertising Bureau's “Measuring Visibility in the AI Era”, published in August 2026, and goes one step further: I open the sources that AI cites.
I produce:
Measurements of how AI describes and recommends a brand, compared with competitors.
An assessment of the sources AI cites when answering questions about the category.
A list of where the brand is absent, inaccurately described, or represented by outdated information.
A written report, presentation, or working session tailored to the engagement.
Brands: the fixed-price diagnostic
The problem. Customers don't count how often your brand appears in AI. They ask AI to explore a category, compare brands, and help make purchase decisions. You don't know whether AI mentions your brand at all, what it tells them when it does, which key sources it draws on, or which competitors get recommended instead.
How I solve it. Most AI visibility services count mentions. I measure how AI describes and recommends your brand and your competitors. I open and read the sources of information that AI cites in those answers to find what's missing, outdated, or wrong.
My role. Independent measurement and strategy. I am not an agency and I do not replace yours. I sit with your team and your agencies, show them what AI reads about your brand, and work out together what to change first. By the end, your team understands how AI reads your brand, and your agencies are working from the same facts you are. I am scheduled to speak about my system at the NY AI Summit and in my workshop for IASEAI, the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI, and I write about it in my newsletter, the Brand AI Report
The Deliverable. One category, one price, two weeks: a written report, a view of your competitors in AI, and a working session with your team and agencies. After the initial report, you have the option of continuing on a monthly or quarterly schedule to see whether your brand's representation improves.
What it is not. Not an SEO audit, content strategy, or a dashboard. Search ranking is one input to AI answers, as is your website. AI responses may also draw on many other sources. I identify which ones matter, what needs attention, and where your team and agencies should act.
PR and marketing agencies: pitch support
The problem. In a pitch, agencies tend to talk more about themselves than their prospective client across the table. Even with AI, agencies talk about how they use AI for productivity and efficiency, but not so much about the customer's experience with the client's brand in AI. In AI, it is hard to bring expertise the client doesn't already have. Another AI visibility score is unlikely to distinguish an agency in a competitive pitch.
Visibility is important, of course, but less so than the accuracy and integrity of the client's brand that an agency can build and protect. No one wants to be visible but wrong, or not there at all.
How I solve it. I bring a fresh and measured view of the prospect's brand in AI, built for the pitch and delivered by the agency over the course of the client relationship.
It starts with how AI describes the brand in its answers, then the competition in the category, then the sources AI uses to answer different prompts about that category, whether the prospect's brand is in those sources, and what can be corrected. The method is the one I use in my own primary research and in the Brand AI Report.
My role. Your specialist for the pitch, or for the defense when you are the incumbent. I co-founded and built two agencies to $20M each, was the Digital Director for TBWA\Tequila in Hong Kong, and taught pitch skills on the ANA faculty for years, so I have a reasonable sense of your client's mindset in a pitch. I work behind the scenes or in the room, up to you.
The Deliverable. A deck-ready read on the prospect's brand in AI, with a proposal to correct what can be corrected. Fixed price, two weeks. After the win, the same work becomes a scope of work you can propose to the client, and the start of expertise on your own staff.
In-house talks and workshops
The problem. Your team, your agency, and your board know that AI is changing how customers find brands. And you have heard a few explanations, but still have doubts about how it works or why your brand shows up the way it does – and would like an independent perspective.
How I solve it. I show them, using your brand and your competitors rather than generic examples. The material comes from my primary research and the Brand AI Report. It is the talk I am scheduled to give at the NY AI Summit, adapted to your category.
My role. Outside expert who has built agencies and the measurement system for decision-makers, so I can speak to the CMO/marketing team and the SEO/GEO team in the same session. Member of IASEAI.
The Deliverable (3 options, in-person preferred)
Talk about measuring brands and opening sources in AI: 45 minutes plus questions
1 week prep and half-day workshop: topline review of your brand, competition, and your category in AI, ending with a preliminary set of actions.
Board or executive briefing: 30 minutes.
Expert networks and investors
The problem. You are evaluating a brand, a category, or the AI visibility market itself, and everyone you talk to is selling something. You want to know whether a company's standing in its market shows up in how AI presents the category, from someone with no product to defend.
How I solve it. I run my own primary research on how the major AI systems source and recommend brands in a category, with a focus on the customer’s experience of a brand when the customer uses AI to learn, compare and buy. On a call, I start with your questions. Then I walk through what the research shows: which sources AI relies on in the category, how it describes the brands in it, and where those descriptions diverge from what the brands say about themselves. Visibility is one measure. More important is whether AI describes a brand accurately, based on current and credible evidence.
My role. Independent expert and speaker on brands in AI. I write the Brand AI Report and am scheduled to speak at the NY AI Summit and in my workshop for IASEAI.
The Deliverable. A one-hour call through a trusted expert network. Written diligence by arrangement.
